The Song Is Called "Kala" By Habib Walad Kala means Black Habib's father Ferdous Wahid was one of the trailblazers of Bangla pop music in the 1970s and 1980s. Habib started to pick up tunes on his father's keyboard from the time he was a little boy. Later, he studied music and audio engineering at the School of Audio Engineering in London. Habib conceived his first folk-remix album Krishno while he was still a student in London. "I had the concept and even the tracks arranged..and was looking for a vocalist," he said. Kaya, the vocalist Habib was looking for is a Sylheti restaurant owner in London and amateur singer. The first few songs arising from their collaboration proved to be unexpected hits on the underground scene, both in London and in Dhaka. Krishno was a success when it was eventually released in Bangladesh, its unique blend of age-old folk and modern electronica introducing a radically new sound to the Dhaka music scene. Since then, Habib has released three more albums: Maya (2004), Moina Go... (2005) and Shono! (2006) or his new album Panjabiwala (2007). He has featured new voices in all his albums. Besides Kaya he uses Helal, Julie, Konica, and Nirjho In the album, "Moina Go..." Habib himself appears singing two new romantic songs. He also has his father, Ferdous Wahid singing a song in that album. Habib also has little rap, r&b, hip-hop, and reggae type add-ins to songs done by Kunle. Habib is touring, with upcoming shows in Toronto and Montreal. Habib's Canadian success is managed by Feroz Haq, who is the founder of the International Habib Fan Club (better known as I.H.F.C.). As Habib continues to gain international success, his future goals include "bringing the bohawk into the mainstream." Like many other Bangla music groups, the musical style of Habib is heavily influenced by modern musical approaches. In the case of Habib, he learned music from his Bengali father and then was exposed to modern techniques in London. The influence of the western music can be seen in Habib. Habib uses many traditional music techniques: ? Instrumentation: Habib uses a guitar and keyboard to develop his remixes and then opportunistically uses other instruments when needed. Habib does not rely extensively on traditional Bengali musical instruments such as the sitar, sarod, sarangi, or tabla. Habib has used traditional Bengali instruments, which can be seen in the music video "Moina go"." At times, Habib has used the Vocoder to modulate voice sounds. Habib also likes to use the latest modern electronic technology for his music. Instead, Habib prefers to construct a new music modality for old Bengali folk songs. ? Lyric writing style: As with most pop music, Habib uses lyrics for a specific song focus on a simple theme. Also, Habib tends to retain the original the folk song lyrical structure that can include a strophic or chorus form, where a section of music is repeated, similar to repeated stanzas in poetry. Habib sometimes uses verse-chorus structure, where the chorus serves as a contrast to the verse especially with regards to greater use of instrumentality, and uses a refrain or chorus to repeat a central theme of the song." Interestingly, Habib does not have a formal band and has a sung only a few songs on his albums. Instead, Habib is a composer and beat-maker who uses other singers. Habib is very opportunistic with regards to his singers and background instrumentation that he uses and they vary by album and even by song. Habib uses a keyboard and guitar and develops relationships with other artists who share his perspectives on music. Most of his music is based on old Bengali folk songs that he digitally remixes with a contemporary techno and urban beats. Habib uses a variety of styles in the remixes including hip-hop, reggae, rap, and electronica. However, Habib also has original songs that he writes and composes. Some of his compositions are influenced by western music as well. He frequently adds rap verse in some of his hit songs. His music genre would be called Bengali Pop/Remix."[1] Album: Krishna (2003) - Habib featuring Kaya 01. Krishna - Kaya 02. Dayal Baba - Kaya 03. Ami Kuul Hara - Kaya 04. Kemone Bhulibo Ami - Kaya 05.
